Resumo

Fostering children and young people in peril means minimizing the danger that they won't connect, that they won't learn how to learn and that they won't learn how to enjoy the challenge of growing up. Currently, residential care homes (RCH) are faced with many limitations, hence the emergence of the D'AR-TE project. This is a pilot project in terms of the intervention model in RCH. It aims to be an innovative response, with systemic integration of a set of stimulation activities aimed at fostering personal skills, interpersonal socialization and stimulating relationships.
The evaluation was carried out longitudinally, with reference to two time periods: the beginning - March 2020 (Phase 0) and the end of the project - March 2023 (Phase 1).
- At an intra-group level, the children/young people at the D'AR-TE foster home were assessed in three domains: behavioral, physiological and cognitive-emotional. The cognitive domain was also assessed in the neuropsychological subdomain.
- At an inter-group level, the children/young people taking part in the D'AR-TE project (Experimental Group) and the children/young people institutionalized in RCH but not taking part in the project (Control Group) were assessed.
At the end of the project, we intended to validate this model and assess whether it could be replicated in other RCH, which is the aim of this report.
