Resumo

This chapter is focused on the crossing cooperation between Portugal, Brazil, and the African Portuguese-speaking countries that can influence Atlantic maritime security. Considering the current projects in place and the intersection of regional strategic initiatives, our proposal examines existing naval and maritime cooperation instruments looking at the visibility and repercussions of those frameworks to the 2020s maritime security ambience. We look at stable links that compound maritime security cooperation that can spread gains through different approximations. The emergence of different sources of power within the international system may uphold this axis where the Portuguese-speaking countries can be a source of spreading the trust through defence and security instruments of cooperation. Therefore, we understand that the Portuguese-Speaking countries’ maritime frameworks can boost Atlantic cooperation and ensure the cooperation nexus’s continuing synergy within European security patterns and boundaries.
