Resumo
Vulgarized in 1961 in the United States of America (USA), the concept of ‘big science’ refers to large-scale scientific research, with large budgets, numerous teams, large instruments and laboratories producing a large amount. The International Student Assessment Program (PISA) is analyzed through a literature review and document analysis, highlighting characteristics similar to the concept of ‘big science’. The results found show that PISA can be considered the first program in the area of the social and human sciences to be part of this way of doing science.
