Prof. Manuel Pita holds a PhD in Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive Science awarded by the University of Edinburgh (UK). In a broad sense, his research is on information processing in the dynamics of complex networks. Prof. Pita has produced several works in automata models of biochemical regulation and signalling in Biology. However, he has recently changed focus to study communication complexity and "Cyber-Psychology" in social networks. Prof. Pita teaches various courses on Data Science, Complex Networks, Artificial Intelligence, and Computational Thinking for undergraduate, Masters and PhD students in Engineering, Cinema Studies, and Communication Science. He is also the principal investigator of a funded project (Debaqi) that uses Data Science and Artificial Intelligence to study social conversations in high-school student communities in Portugal.
