Abstract

The clinical interview involves competencies acquired through scientific updating and training, however the scientific literature is scarce and there is no scientific-based training model. The use of virtual patients (VPs) in the health context is highlighted, although this is not the case in Psychology. The objective is to understand the fundamental areas to be explored during anamnesis and validate a clinical interview guide and clinical case as pedagogical resources of the conduction of the interview for psychology students. 13 psychologists composed four focus groups. Two groups represented a first phase of data collection, followed by the modification of the materials according to the analysis of the reports, and the others, a second validation phase. The interview guide was considered appropriate regarding its structure and scope. In the first phase, the suggestions were: reorganise certain sections; decrease its extension; and use more open questions and language appropriate to the client. In the second phase, these were: decrease the extension; and use less problem-focused language. The clinical case was considered appropriate in both phases, but it was suggested to insert feedback from the therapist. It also refers to its relevance for the objective of the study.
