The Co-rumination Questionnaire (CRQ) is an instrument that aims to assess the individual’s tendency to co-ruminate with close friends of the same gender. In the current study, the aim was to translate the original version of the CRQ into portuguese, to adapt it to the context of «love relationship» and to analyze its construct validity, internal reliability and
sensitivity.
It was a non-experimental, descriptive and cross-sectional study that used a sample of
261 participants (M = 35.34; SD = 10.05), of both genders, of portuguese expression, who had
experienced an exclusive love relationship for at least a year. The AFC results indicated a better
adjustment to the data by the «two-factor model», while there was a better suitability of the part
of the unifactorial structure integrated with it. For internal consistency, the value of the
hierarchical omega and Cronbach’s alpha obtained for the general score suggest a very good
reliability. Convergent and discriminant validities were calculated and supported, using
Pearson’s Correlation Coefficient. There was also an adequate sensitivity of the measurement
items.
To our knowledge, this study is the first, at the international level, to integrate the
adaptation and validation of the CRQ for the context of «loving dyad». Its preliminary results
are promising and suggest that it is a measure that may be useful in the context of research
and/or clinical practice.
