Abstract
We analyze the "chip war" between China and the United States of America and where Taiwanemerges with several implications to complete the geopolitical picture. Chips are very important
components for the technology industry and are used in a whole range of electronic devices.
The latent dependencies for these components, leveraged by the Covid19 pandemic, have
provided fierce competition among key global players. China is one of the world's leading
consumers of chips and has sought to increase its market share through the development of its
own technology and the acquisition of foreign companies. The United States has a strong
industry in the technological field and tries to prevent China from having access to advanced
technology, as well as limit the sale of these semiconductors to Chinese companies. Taiwan,
which owns the largest and most important semiconductor companies, has been a point of
tension in this dispute, and in which China claims sovereignty.
