The thesis arises within the scope of the Mestrado de Ensino de Artes Visuais no 3º Ciclo do Ensino Básico e no Ensino Secundário, carried out in the context of Prática de Ensino Supervisionada. This study was carried out at Escola Secundária Antero de Quental in Ponta Delgada, in the discipline of Oficina das Artes following two classes of the 12th year of the Visual Arts Area. In this study, the research-action methodology was used, which helped the entire exploratory teaching-learning process, as well as the research itself.
This investigation addresses issues related to the teaching of the visual arts, evidencing the perpetual relationship that this area presents in the development of individual and social identity.
Visual arts can be a way to stimulate the development of an individual's identity, as this area offers sensitive experiences essential to the construction, at the cognitive level, of creative and expressive capacities and affective resources in the sociocultural context.
This study focuses on the application of the creative process in the unfolding of an artistic and community project, as well as on the relationship of this interaction in the construction of an awareness about Human Rights issues.
