Abstract

Mural painting as an artistic expression, inspired by street art, mostly in large dimensions, has as its physical support murals and / or walls, translates various languages and knowledge. The teaching of visual arts favours learning under diversified explorations and experiences to students, enlightening their understanding, making it deeper and wider and allows integration of innovative knowledge, between arts and other transversal knowledge domains. The present study in the context of a research of qualitative and exploratory nature, deals with an action-research methodology in two classes in Supervised Teaching Practice, namely to the discipline of Visual Education, which proposed to establish a link between a project of Mural Painting at school, which represented the local natural Heritage, and the relationship with students for their cultural values and interests. Therefore, through the teaching methodology of Project Work, addressed interdisciplinary dimensions and art manifestations, which encouraged students to disclose and know the territory of its Heritage, with other artistic points of view, with the aim of enriching skills in the field of arts education, the identity of each student, the creative, autonomous, cooperative, creative and reflective spirit.
