The scope of this research aimed to identify the motivational profile of the
Kindergarten Teachers in the municipality of Torres Novas, and also describe to
and analyze the motivational profile of the Kindergarten Teachers in relation to
their job. It was also intended to verify if the motivational profile changes according
to the variable type of institution and also whether the service time is a variable
that affects the motivational profile. Ferreira, Diogo, Ferreira & Valente (2006) due
to lack of instruments to measure motivation, they have considered important to
develop a scale that measured several characteristics dimensions of work
motivation, which they have designated as MULTI-MOTI Scale (2006). This scale
and the theoretical basis that underpins it served to support this study.
For this research, two questionnaires were used to collect and analyze
data. The first one was only to obtain personal and professional data while the
second one, the MULTI MOTI questionnaire by Ferreira et al. (2006), which
includes 28 items was used to measure four dimensions related to work
motivation. Our sample consisted of 54 Kindergarten Teachers. Both
questionnaires used a Likert type scale.
The results showed that most Kindergarten Teachers revealed high levels
of motivation on Organization and Development at Work and lower levels
regarding to the Performance, Achievement and Power.
