Introduction: The Coronavirus is an infectious disease that has left tens of millions of deaths
around the world, and which has had social, economic, emotional, and psychological
consequences. To mitigate the spread of the virus, several countries have adopted restrictive
measures, that impacted the way people experience their grieving process. The present study is
anchored in the Dual Process Model and aims to identify risk factors associated with a greater
intensity of grief response. Method: The research is a cross-sectional quantitative study. The
sample contains 163 participants (87.10% female and 12.90% men) who lost a close one during
the pandemic. Sociodemographic and loss-related information was collected, and the PG-4 was
applied. A hierarchical multiple regression was performed to determine the factors associated
with intensity of grief response. Results: More intense bereavement responses were associated
with less social support, financial situation changing for worse, greater psychological impact of
restrictions on communicating with the deceased, and the deceased having received end-of-life
care in a hospital. Conclusion: There are factors that can be seen as loss and restoration oriented stressors and aspects of the pandemic context that can be seen as overload
