Over the past few decades, an effort has been made to conceptualize Hypersexuality. The literature refers to Hypersexuality as a persistent pattern of behaviors in which individuals lose control of their sexual impulses, fantasies and behaviors, causing suffering and consequences for themselves and/or others. This phenomenon has been shown to be controversial and vast considering that several authors claim that it comes from different etiologies such as sexual addiction or dependence, sexual compulsiveness and sexual impulsivity. Through a modified Emotional Go/No-Go task and the presentation of emotional (sexual), positive (sport) and neutral visual stimuli, this study aimed to analyze how impulsivity is associated with Hypersexuality indicators and evaluate the duration of the first fixation, in which there is extraction of information. The sample consisted of 55 men and 58 women (N = 113). The results suggest a longer duration of the first fixation to neutral stimuli, contrary to expectations. In addition, the results show that there are no significant associations between the Hypersexuality indicators and duration of the first fixation, concluding that the data do not preclude the role of impulsivity in hypersexual behavior. The importance of different etiologies to be explored in order to better explain this phenomenon and its scope is noted.
