: arquivo, lacunas e a imaginação na reconfiguração da memória

Abstract

Images, objects, writings, videos, sounds: these are the traces that humans imprint upon the spaces they inhabit. Through these, they create constellations of objects or records imbued with meaning by their unique and unrepeatable existence. With the inevitable disappearance of that being, many of the connections sustaining such constellations are also lost. And yet, new ones may emerge. The artistic work underpinning this investigation seeks to explore the ability of a narrative to provide understanding and meaning to the archive, while simultaneously highlighting its limitations as a mediator of storytelling. It focuses on the absence of the narrator of their own story, while also emphasising the presence of alternative narrators who seek to interpret the records or even preserve—and potentially reorganise—the traces left by others. This artistic project examines the intersection of memory, collection, and archive, alongside the absence of a narrator, and consequently, the potential for creating new narratives. Through a series of artistic productions, the aim is to reflect on the place of memory and the construction of new narratives in the absence of a storyteller.
