This study is about the motivational factors subject that has been intensively discussed in
recent decades by researchers of the Education and Psychology fields, because of the
problems related to the absence of motivation that has influenced, negatively, the process of
teaching and learning. The objective of this study was to analyze the motivational factors that
influence the learning of students in the sth year of fundamental education at two public
schools, one in Aracaju city, from the state net of education, and another in Boquim city, from
the municipal net of education. The participants of the study were 32 students. The
methodological procedure used was bibliographic research, collection of data through the
application of a motivation scale, interviews with students and study of documents (minutes
of school performance in the year 2008). The result of the study showed that intrinsic
motivation (IM) is greater than extrinsic motivation (EM). However, there was similarity in
the results of the central measures found, and the relation between school marks and the type
of motivation was not too significant.
