Abstract
The present report, prepared within the scope of the Master's in Visual Arts Teachingin the 3rd cycle and Secondary Education, pertains to the supervised teaching practice carried
out at Henriques Nogueira Secondary School, in a 10th-grade Drawing A class, and a 12thgrade Arts Workshop class.
This reflection focuses on the influence that two Didactic Units centered around the
theme of Metamorphosis had on the development of Creativity, considering the
teaching/learning process of Drawing in two different school years.
Dedicated to fostering critical and creative thinking, all classes within the projects
developed during the Didactic Units (DUs) aimed to stimulate creative abilities such as fluency,
flexibility, originality, and elaboration, with the purpose of facilitating each phase of
conceptualization and execution of students' work according to the proposed project, from start
to finish.
For this evolution, teaching strategies were chosen that took into account the approach
to the world of the arts, exposure to some significant works through classroom presentations,
contact with new materials and supports for plastic productions, field trips, organization of
exhibitions, and encouragement of reflection, both individually and in groups, on the project
development process, as well as the presentation of students' works.
This study seeks to answer the initial question: 'Can the concept of Metamorphosis be
taken as a reference to develop and stimulate students' creativity in Drawing?' Its objectives are
to demonstrate that the concept of Metamorphosis can be a facilitating reference for creativity
in Drawing by providing an example of a process—formal variation and speculation—and that
it can also be a facilitating reference for creativity in Drawing by constituting a metaphor—
permanent transformation, acquiring new qualities.
