The definition, prevalence and repercussions of hypersexuality have been the subject of growing
research, although these studies follow different and not always consensual lines of investigation.
This investigation aimed to analyse the influence of the time of the first fixation on the control of
impulses and on hypersexuality. The ocular registration of a visual image is an important selective
process in visual perception. Therefore, recording and analyzing eye movement data in our sample
provided us an indicator of impulsiveness and hypersexuality in a go/no-go task. The sample of
present study consisted of 112 participants (59 women and 53 men). Inclusion criteria were age
over 18 and being heterosexual. The contact was made through social networks. The results
revealed a significant association between the consequences associated with hypersexuality and
sexual compulsiveness, and the time for the first fixation with regard to positive images/sport.
