Abstract

In a increasingly globalized world, schools are facing a variety of social practices, cultures and religions that in a classroom can difficult the work of the visual arts teacher. Facing this reality, the adopted research line has as porpose understand how can socioeconomic factors are intervening in the aesthetic-visual thought. This study was performed using the interview and direct observation as instruments of sociological research having as sample two groups. The first group, children attending Cooperativa Horizonte under the ATL regime. This group has ben selected by Cooperativa Horizonte, attending to study objectives, a multicultural group of six children between the ages of 6 and 11, of diferent socioeconomic backgrounds. And at a later stage, a second group, of students of the 2nd and 3rd series with ages between 12 and 15 that attend the Salesians school. From the research used instruments, it was possible to collect information related to the family nucleus, preferences, towards a set of activities. It is therefore necessary to develop systematic and more consistent work, so that the student can at least in the school, depriving with the art and spaces used by it in order to obtain a better interiorization, and familiarity with art, in its true amplitude, in order to constitute in itself a visual consciousness. Since aesthetic perception is an intrinsic capacity, there is no impediment whatsoever for any child to be qualified for the aesthetic appreciation of any manifestation of art. Only restrictive contact with art has the interest castrating role. It is not possible to arouse sensitivity to art without the contact with art. The reality is that most families are not awake to the importance of art in the training of children and many of those who are have no easy financial access to art.
