This dissertation seeks to bring to discussion, the principle use of iconography: images,
interpretations and new approaches in teaching history in elementary schools Simões II-PI.
The specific objectives intended to meet the possible difficulties of teachers in the classroom
images approach. Interpretations and perceptions of these on the need for training on how to
work the iconography in the classroom. And inda reflection on teaching and encouraging the
use of Iconography in written texts. This was an exploratory and descriptive research, where
the data were collected abeam questionnaire with closed and open questions involving
teachers of these schools. The results showed that teachers who answered the questionnaire
did not explore the iconography of possibilities in teaching history. Also that the same
demand for training in the subject in order to be able to work and explore the iconography, as
a teaching tool, more assiduously. This study reaffirms the importance of iconography in
history classes, suggesting that each time is more incorporated into the classroom every day,
from the initial series. It is believed this so contributing new ways to understand the story.
