This work aims to analyze the Sobralense culture in the two first decades of the 20th Century, based
on the Cassacos de Cordeiro de Andrade work rummage, considering it as historic narrative. The
proposition longs for serving to suggestion as educative tool in the High School classes of Local
History. The theoretical research route, which is presented as qualitative study of content, with
analytical-descriptive historic analyses is divided in A terra ( The Earth) , that demonstrate the
importance of studying local history from the historic narrative on, understanding the space/time
relation, identity/memory as a presupposition to the students’ civic education, besides tracing a
reading about Sobral since its foundation in 1920, also regarding its urban formation since the
analytic crossing of the official literatures with the work Cassacos. A Romanization project of the
Catholic Church will be identified and then proposed the deconstruction and the launching of a new
look on Sobral history in the diocesan period. In O Homem (The man), It’s our objective to stand
out the existing contradictions in the official biography of Cordeiro de Andrade, discussing its
political attitudes and understanding it as a social agent. In A Luta (The Fight), it is noticeable, by
means of the literary works and the newspapers which was edited, that Cordeiro- The creator is
mistaken by Cordeiro - The creature.
