Abstract

The present study had as its primary objective to investigate how Inter / Multicultural education had been worked during history lessons at Public Schools of Grajaú-MA. A total of 11 participants, 07 teachers, 02 directors and 02 pedagogical coordinators. The instruments comprised observation and semi-structured interviews. The results showed that although participants show having knowledge of the cross-cutting themes Inter / Multicultural, their teaching practices do not operationalise what the National Curriculum Parameters (NCPs) recommend, since issues such as indian day, Grajaú city ‘s foundation day, black awareness day, among others, are only remembered on commemorative dates that form the school calendar. It has become very clear the lack of training, both initial and continuing education of the teachers, lack of training, extension courses, teaching materials and incentive from the education management. Such problems end up interfering with the operationalization of Laws 10.639 / 03 and 11.645 / 08, the National Curriculum Guidelines aimed at the Ethnic-Racial Relations, Afro-Brazilian and African Cultures and Indigenous Education in Basic Education, during the classes of History.
