Abstract

Violent crime is a very current and prevalent theme in society, being defined through the causes that can lead an individual to practice it. Currently, the crimes considered most violent by society are homicide and sexual, being crimes with a lot of social stigmatization. The main objective of this study is to describe the life trajectories associated with violent male crime, specifically homicides and sexual aggressors. The sample consists of 13 male participants, six convicted of homicide and seven convicted of sexual offenses. In the present study, a narrative analysis was carried out, using the McAdams life story interview. After analyzing the interviews, it is possible to identify different narratives between homicides and sexual aggressors: adverse life contexts were predominant in homicides and family adversity was predominant in sexual aggressors. With regard to the differences between homicides and sexual aggressors, they have an antisocial conduct and homicides have a higher consumption of substances, thus justifying the crime committed.
