Abstract

The objective of this dissertation was to understand and analyse the characteristics and effectiveness of cooperation between the Universidade Lusófona (U. Lusófona) and students from the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP). Contextualizing the theme of cooperation, we began by trying to understand the genesis of the CPLP, the perspective of International Relations and the policies of Lusophone. In a more in-depth manner, a survey was carried out for the period between 2016 and 2021, on the conditions of attribution of scholarships and respective percentages of exemption; students enrolled in those academic years; faculties chosen to attend the 1st cycle and statistical numbers on how many graduates or nongraduates. Thus, the effectiveness and representation of the cooperation between U. Lusófona and the CPLP was evaluated by means of two questionnaires. The first, aimed only at students attending the degree course, in order to understand the difficulties experienced and their integration and progression. The second was aimed at former students, measuring the level and potential of existing cooperation. Among the conclusions, we highlight the percentage of "non graduates" of 85%. As well as the large investment made by the University, the cooperation itself is not effective, since most of the students do not return to their country of origin. Keywords: Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries, U. Lusófona, cooperation, scholarships, surveys, "non graduates".
