The objective of present investigation was to perform an analysis of the
psychometric characteristics of the SCL-90-R symptom inventory using the Rasch
Model, in a sample of individuals with substance use disorder inserted in the therapeutic
community, as an instrument for assessing possible emotional impairments in
neuropsychological disorders present in these individuals.
The sample consisted of 315 subjects, 90.2% male, aged between 20 and 73
years.
The results observed allow us to verify that all Linacre guidelines (2002) are
successfully overcome and that the main reliability indicators point to very adequate
results, both for items and for people, suggesting an appropriate instrument, with good
psychometric characteristics, useful and effective in evaluating the presence of
psychopathological symptoms.
Given the repercussion of emotional states on cognitive functions, the SCL-90-R as an instrument for assessing emotional changes can be of great use in neuropsychological evaluation.
