The transdiagnostic model focuses on the study of common etiological factors underlying several psychopathologies. Worry is a transdiagnostic factor widely studied as being associated with psychological distress and anxiety disorders, however it`s relationship with sexual distress and sexual dysfunctions is not yet clear. In this sense, the present study aimed to test a dyadic model via APIM (Actor-Partner Interdependence Model) to analyze the effect of worry and its interpersonal form (co-worry) on sexual distress. One hundred and fifty individuals participated in the study, grouped in 75 heterosexual monogamous couples, whose ages ranged between 18 and 59 years. The results demonstrate that men's worry is a predictor of sexual distress in themselves, and that the covariable male relational satisfaction is inversely associated with the couple's sexual distress. These data suggest that worry as a transdiagnostic factor can be in the basis of sexual disorders and, as such, be an element to consider in their treatment. Furthermore, the data also suggest the importance of considering factors such as relationship satisfaction in conjugal interventions to treat dysfunctions. Even so, more studies are needed to prove and support the existence of these associations.
