Abstract

This investigation aimed to analyze, identify weaknesses in the lack of physical exercise in adults in the geriatric phase, assess cognitive reserve, that is, analyze the influence of physical exercise on cognitive decline. To answer the objective, 50 participants answered a sociodemographic questionnaire, the Montreal Cognitive Assessment, the Beck Depression Inventory, the Frontal Assessment Battery, REY T15, Questionnaire of Social Support and Questionnaire of Working Memory, to Rudas, GDS, and the Physical Exercise Questionnaire. For the sample, only the population aged 65 years or over, with no history of neurological / psychiatric disorders, as well as of uncorrected visual and / or motor and motor changes, was considered. The results found indicate the influence of the practice of accompanied physical exercise in the results obtained in the FAB, that is, the practice of accompanied physical exercise improves executive functions, and there is still an influence of depression. A relationship between age and education was also found in the scores obtained at MOCA and FAB. In short, it is important to promote the practice of physical exercise in institutionalized elderly since it promotes the maintenance of cognitive functioning.
