Abstract

This dissertation presents an analysis of inclusive practices developed in a public educational institution, in Sintra. It is inspired on a concept that focuses on change, cooperation and motivation when facing active and experimental musical activities. Scientific and pedagogical aspects critical to the viability of inclusive educational practices emphasizing the emotional, social and motivational aspects, as being fundamental factors, conducive to students’ academic success, in particular those with special educational needs, are also analyzed. In this research - action assignment, I also aim to highlight the important contribution that music can provide for interdisciplinary projects in a collaborative effort between school / environment and students' personal and social training. In this perspective, the subject of musical education thus assumes a major role in the academic performance of students as a diffuser and stimulating mean of exchange of cultural and environmental values around our society. This work opened up for study on a subject that has been little explored, although it is known that music in the context of mutual help contributes to the overall development of students in general, not only in terms of interpersonal relations, but also at the level of motivation when dealing with school learning.
