This investigation report started from a concern raised on an internship I did, on an 8th
grade class, as part of a Master’s Degree in Visual Arts Teaching for the 3rd Cycle of Basic
Education.
It’s based on an experience of action research whose main objective is to analyze if the
activities that influence “reflective thought” improve the levels of attention, participation and
performance in visual education. The investigation methodology will be oriented towards the
improvement of the pedagogical practice to attempt to solve problems related to indiscipline,
increase the participation of the class on learning-teaching activities and contribute to the
creation of a calm and productive environment.
In a way I intend to search for the concept of “reflective experience” invoked by Dewey
(1953, 1959) by establishing a relationship between the act of thinking and the management
of behavior in the class room, allowing the students to develop critical thinking about the
importance of “learning to be” (Delors, 1996).
