Abstract
Introduction: There is a growing interest in the technical-tactical analysis of Olympic boxing, but the lack of validated instruments in Portuguese limits the understanding of athletes' per-formance. The Boxing Performance Analysis Template (BPAT), validated for the technical anal-ysis of Olympic boxing, is a useful tool but is not yet available in Portuguese. Objective: This study aimed to translate the BPAT into Portuguese, facilitating its use by Luso-phone researchers and professionals. Methodology: The translation process was followed by intra- and inter-observer analyses to verify data consistency. The BPAT categorizes offensive, defensive, and feint actions by type, target area, and outcome. Results: Intra-observer agreement showed no significant differences (P > 0.05) between tests and retests. The proportion of perfect agreement (PA) ranged from 93% to 100%, reaching 100% with the reference value of ±1 (PA±1). Inter-observer agreement between Analyst A and Analyst B ranged from 89% to 100%, achieving 100% for PA±1. Discussion: The BPAT translation demonstrated excellent intra-observer reliability and good inter-observer agreement, especially with a tolerance of ±1. However, feint actions showed lower consistency due to their subtle nature, consistent with the original instrument. Conclusion: The study validated the BPAT for Portuguese, demonstrating high reliability for attacks and defenses. This instrument represents a robust tool for technical-tactical analysis in Olympic boxing, despite challenges in analyzing feints.
