Segurança alimentar e segurança hídrica: perspetivas

Food security is a dynamic concept that has changed over time, becoming more and more complete. In the current international context, security is no longer just related to weapons but has a concern for life and human dignity, Human Security. This new dimension has two main aspects: (1) keeping people safe from chronic threats such as hunger, disease, repression; (2) to protect them from sudden and harmful changes in the patterns of daily life, such as wars, genocide and ethnic cleansing. Food security and water security when not guaranteed in a given population can lead to malnutrition and poverty, health problems and, in more serious cases, death. The balance between food, water and energy security due to their strong interdependence are key factors for effective growth and a sustainable future in which there is sufficient water and food for social and economic development and for the survival and well-being of humanity .
