Abstract
The concept of “event” is used by a variety
of social sciences in a differentiated manner,
leading to fundamental differences in the
way they are perceived, interpreted and
reported. Consider the notion of event for
Journalism and for History. The journalistic
event values facts of everyday life, the present
time, the now, the immediate, while the
historic view considers events that matter
under a longer period of time and its underlying
causes. So, what we propose to discuss is
how this concept is used by journalism and
history, highlighting major similarities and dissimilarities.
