Abstract

The school system has been crucial in the expansion of literacy. Despite many practical difficulties and different rhythms of development, very early schooling became a global phenomenon which through isomorphism developed in modern worldi. Like all global phenomena, nowadays’ schooling has a local root, despite being a model constructed in a European context and only later gradually universally widespread as the integration of different areas into the capitalist world economy occurred.
