Abstract

AQUACONVERSION™ is a novel technology being offered by PDVSA-Intevep, UOP and Foster Wheeler as a commercial alternative both for refinery and wellhead applications. The technology combines conventional thermal process advantages with the catalytic effects that promote moderate hydrogen addition at low cost. Its introduction opens new options both to increase refinery margins, as well as in the heavy oil upgrading applications to produce a synthetic crude oil that can be transported and processed in an existing refinery.
