Abstract

In this paper a characterization of observed sea surface anomalies in the Spanish southwest coast (more specifically Nerja-La Herradura and Cabo de Gata areas) is done. This study aims to explain the origin of observed anomalies and their possible relation with submarine groundwater discharges (SGD). The data analysis was complemented with model results forced with realistic forcing and initial conditions.
