Abstract

This study was based in a Conflict Mediation Project (CMP), carried out in the center region of Portugal. The analysis focused on the impact of the project intervention, in the students and teachers who participated actively in the projetc, investigating its effects and benefits in interpersonal relationships and in school life. In the study, a qualitative research was selected, which privileged the representations, meanings and practices about the CMP. The results point to the effectiveness of CMP in the prevention and resolution of conflicts, as well as promotion socialization. In the opinion of the teachers, the non-teaching staff was the one who least followed the dynamics of the project. In contrast, the specific training of students and teachers is significant, because it contributed to the development of values and principles, essential to collaborative coexistence.
