A importância dos museus locais em Portugal

Community intervention in the development of Portugal has a strong sustainment in the intervention policies at a local level. They have thus permanently established a structural relationship between culture and development. In this sense local museums, which in a recent past were perceived as smaller factors of influence in the official cultural policy, are today recognized by the European Union as essential elements of that same policy. We reencounter here the guiding principles of the “founding” documents of the theoretical structure of the new museology as a basis for the community guidelines.
