Description
Football is Europe and Europe is Football. From grassroots to elite football, is widely considered to be the most popular sport in the world and continues to grow in popularity and participation rates. This European game has the power to propel social cohesion, inspiring the education of individuals and organisations. No high-level integrated transnational study programme exists at Master level, jointly delivered by an international consortia of higher education institutions (HEIs), that ensure the development and acquisition of all core competences that are needed from the scientific, pedagogical, didactic and technical point of views, for the successful professional integration of future skilled coaches, trainers, and/or members of sports science multidisciplinary teams from youth football to highly competitive international professional environments. A European Master in Football (Erasmus Mundus Football) [EMF^2] organized and provided jointly by a consortium of four HEIs will offer a genuine European learning experience to students. EMF^2 will be designed to be a 2-year European Joint Master Course, with a 120 ECTS curriculum over four semesters. The lead partner will be Lusófona University, in Lisbon, Portugal, while the remaining partners are University A Coruña, Spain; Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium; and the Palacký University Olomouc, Czech Republic. To set up the EMF^2, digital and face-to-face transnational project meetings, conferences and multiplier events will be carried out to design the joint mechanisms (e.g., fully integrated curriculum to be delivered by the consortium, student admission requirements and application; common services offered to students; Joint Student Agreement). EMF^2 graduates will benefit from extensive international collaboration and training opportunities, preparing them for a shifting sport and social landscape where creativity, innovation, flexibility, team work, intercultural skills and leadership will all be assets.
