Biography

I am a researcher at  CeiED – Interdisciplinary Research Centre for Education and Development, Lusófona University, Lisbon, Portugal, and currently the principal investigator of the project Rupture, Popular Power and Emancipation? University Students’ Engagement in Literacy Movements (1974–1976)/ROMPANTE, funded by FCT – Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia, Portugal’s national public agency supporting research in science, technology, and innovation.

I am a sociologist, holding a Master’s degree and a PhD (2021) in Educational Sciences – Education, Society and Development from NOVA University of Lisbon – School of Social Sciences and Humanities. I was a postdoctoral researcher at Paris-Saclay University, Institute Villebon – Georges Charpak, Orsay, France, during the 2024–2025 academic year.

At Lusófona University, I teach courses primarily in Sociology of Education and Education Theory and Practice, at both undergraduate and graduate levels. I am also an invited adjunct teacher at the School of Education, IPLUSO – Polytechnic Institute of Lusofonia, and previously served as an invited adjunct professor at IPL – Politécnico de Lisboa from 2011 to 2017.

I am a member of the Steering Committee of the Standing Group on Knowledge and Governance of the ECPR – European Consortium for Political Research, an expert at the UNESCO Inclusive Policy Lab, and a member of NESET – the Network of Experts in Social Aspects of Education and Training. I also serve as an expert in quality assessment for the Portuguese National Erasmus+ Education and Training Agency.

My academic and research work has been acknowledged with the Diploma of Recognition for Excellence in Research at Lusófona University Day (2023), the Excellence in Research Award (3rd place) from the FAZER+ programme: Support for Science and Innovation (2022), and the Merit and Excellence Award as the best master’s student in Educational Sciences 2010/2011 from NOVA University of Lisbon – School of Social Sciences and Humanities (2012). As a graduate student and PhD candidate, I was awarded five research fellowships funded by FCT and participated in two successful SEED Projects, which received funding for exploratory research activities.
