Biography

João Marôco, Ph.D. from Washington State University, is a full professor of Statistics, Research Methods, and Advanced Data Analysis. He has consulted for the World Bank and the Teresa and Alexandre Soares dos Santos Education Initiative. From 2014 to 2018, he served on IAVE, I.P.'s board, overseeing large-scale evaluation studies (PISA, TIMSS, PIRLS, ICILS). João Marôco has conducted workshops and lectures at universities across Portugal, Brazil, Finland, Norway, Taiwan, and the U.K. His research covers psychometric scale development, regression, structural equation modeling, student assessment, engagement, burnout, and classification models in various sciences. He has authored over 450 papers and four books, with more than 50,000 citations (H = 78; i10 = 328), ranking in the top 3% of academics in Portugal and the top 2% globally. João Marôco also contributes to Portuguese media, particularly on educational statistics.
