Research interests

With a PhD in Arts Science and Technology: Specialization in Interactive Art, Master in Sound and Image, specialization in Computer Animation and Degree in Communication Design, João Alves de Sousa has won several awards in different creative areas. In the field of Animation with the short films "?orquê" and "Sendo um Feto" highlighting the Young Portuguese Filmmaker award at the prestigious Cinanima 2006 festival and in the field of Video Games with "Lots of Guts" winner of the most popular video game award innovator of the Playstation Awards 2015. He is a teacher and Deputy Director of the Degree in Audiovisual Communication and Multimedia and Director of the Degree in Video Games and Multimedia Applications, having been awarded in the Fazer+ 2020 Program for the implementation of innovative pedagogical practices of Project Based Learning in this degree. At the same time, he develops research at HEI-Lab and practical work in the area of ​​design, animation and video game art

Degree in Graphic Design and Master in Sound and Image, specialization in Computer animation. João won several awards in the creative fields. In animation with short films? He won the award for best pedagogical practice in "Fazer+" contest for implementing innovative Project Based Learning practices in the Videogames bachelor. At the same time, he carries out research in HEI-Lab and practical work in the fields of design, animation and art of video games.
