João Barata is an Assistant Professor at Universidade Lusófona – University Centre of Lisbon.
He completed his PhD in Fashion Design at the University of Beira Interior in association with the Minho University. His doctoral studies followed the same academic area as his Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees, also in Fashion Design.
He has a decade of experience teaching in both public and private Higher Education Institutions.
He is involved in several projects related to Industry and Academia, such as the digitisation of the creative and production process of the Portuguese Textile and Apparel Industry (ITV-PT), the Fashion and ITV Education Symposium with consultation of industrial and technological partners, and he collaborates on the FACTS – European Master’s project.
He is an integrated member of CIAUD and has several publications on Fashion Design (both in its practical and theoretical aspects), Creativity, Sustainability, and Costume Design for Film and Media.
