Biography
Ilo Alexandre is a research scientist at CICANT and an assistant professor at Universidade Lusófona. Alexandre received his Ph.D. in Digital Media, specializing in Journalism, from Universidade NOVA de Lisboa (UT Austin Program|Portugal). His primary research focuses on data journalism, particularly in analyzing how audiences interact with and assess data visualizations in news media. Additionally, he is actively exploring digital methods that offer innovative approaches to studying media and communication phenomena. In his Ph.D. and Master's degrees, Alexandre investigated the performance of data-driven journalism (DDJ) pieces and the state of the art of DDJ in Portugal, respectively. Alexandre was a visiting assistant professor at NOVA. He has worked as editor-in-chief at G1 Ceará and as a reporter for several news organizations, including Portal Verdes Mares and TV Cidade. Additionally, he has worked as a web editor and social media editor for political campaigns and advertising.
