Biography

Filipe Joel Soares received the Physics degree from the Faculty of Sciences and an Electrical Engineering Postgrad from Porto University, Portugal, in 2004 and 2007, respectively. He also received the Ph.D. degree in Sustainable Energy Systems, in the MIT|Portugal Program, from Porto University in 2012. Currently he is a researcher in the Power Systems Unit of INESC Porto and his research activity is directed towards the integration of renewable energy sources and electric vehicles in electric distribution grids. In these areas, he has actively participated in the projects INOVGRID and GREENISLAND. He has also participated in several consultancy projects for energy companies, such as utilities, manufacturers and renewable energies investors. In addition, he gave advanced training and presented technical workshops within the fields of electric vehicles and smart grids in Portugal and abroad. He is author of more than 50 papers in international journals and conferences.
