Biography

I finished my MSc degree in Veterinary Medicine on the 19th June 2008, with the thesis: "Subtipification of canine and feline Parvovirus". I've worked on mare's and ewes reproduction physiology from 1st November 2008 to 31st December 2009. I started my laboratorial work with Culicoides in the Laboratory of Parasitology and Parasitic Diseases in 2010. In 2012, I started my PhD on Culicoides and finished it on the 14th March 2016, with the thesis: "Phenotypic and genetic characterization of Culicoides (Diptera: Ceratopogonidae) in Portugal and comparison of the effect of pyrethroid insecticides in their control". Between 2017-2020, I've worked on my Post-doctoral research with Culicoides (vectors of Bluetongue disease and Schmallenberg virus) identification, as well as morphologic and molecular studies of the same midges. Furthermore, I started my residency on the European Veterinary Parasitology College (EVPC). Since October 2020 I'm Assistant Professor in Universidade Lusófona (ULHT).
