Biography

Cátia Marques has concluded her Master Integrated Degree in Veterinary sciences in 2010 and more recently, in 2019, she received her PhD in Veterinary Sciences at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Lisbon. Cátia Marques started to work in research while still a student, in 2005, under the scope of a National entomological study about Culicoides spp., the vectors of bluetongue disease. Later, she conducted her Master´s thesis at the veterinary blood bank from the veterinary teaching hospital from University of Lisbon, which resulted in her first publication in a scientific journal in 2010. She also worked for several years in the parasitology department from the same University, integrating several research projects about tick borne diseases and about the immune response of dogs to leishmaniosis. Her phD was focused on the study antimicrobial resistance in companion animals and humans.
